Albert Arnz
Albert Arnz (24 January 1832 – 9 September 1914) was a German landscape painter of the Düsseldorf school. Biography Albert Arnz was the son of Maria Catharina Carolina and Heinrich Arnz (1785–1854), a well-known bookseller and printer (he owned Arnz & Comp.). He studied painting from 1854 to 1860 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, there two of his teachers were Andreas and Oswald Achenbach. The latter married Arnz's sister Julie (born 1827), and with him he traveled to Italy a number of times. Another brother in law, the husband of his sister Marie Anna Fernandine (born 1829), was the Düsseldorfer painter Albert Flamm. Yet another brother in law, husband of Arnz's oldest sister Marie (born 1825), was the historical painter Joseph Fay. Carl Adolf Rosenberg (1850 – 1906) was a German theater critic and art historian. Rosenberg was born as the son of a Prussian merchant in Bydgoszcz and attended secondary school in Berlin and Cologne. ''Jugendstil'' ("Youth Style") was an artistic movement, particularly in the decorative arts, that was influential primarily in Germany and elsewhere in Europe to a lesser extent from about 1895 until about 1910. It was the German counterpart of Art Nouveau. The members of the movement were reacting against the historicism and neo-classicism of the official art and architecture academies. It took its name from the art journal '' Jugend'', founded by the German artist Georg Hirth. It was especially active in the graphic arts and interior decoration. Its major centers of activity were Munich and Weimar and the Darmstadt Artists' Colony founded in Darmstadt in 1901. Important figures of the movement included the Swiss graphic artist Hermann Obrist, Otto Eckmann, and the Belgian architect and decorator Henry van de Velde. Schadowstraße is a shopping street in Düsseldorf, Germany, located in the districts of Stadtmitte and Pempelfort. The street cuts through downtown Düsseldorf, starting at Königsallee, passing the Tausendfüßler and reaching up to Berliner Allee. Schadowstraße is named after the German Romantic painter Wilhelm von Schadow. The Western section towards Königsallee is a pedestrian zone and has some landmark buildings, such as the ''Schadow Arkaden'', a shopping mall designed by German architect Walter Brune in 1994, and the ''Peek & Cloppenburg'' flagship store, designed by American architect Richard Meier in 2001. A (; often shortened to ; plural: ), French for "living picture", is a static scene containing one or more actors or models. They are stationary and silent, usually in costume, carefully posed, with props and/or scenery, and may be theatrically lit. It thus combines aspects of theatre and the visual arts. A tableau may either be 'performed' live, or depicted in painting, photography and sculpture, such as in many works of the Romantic, Aesthetic, Symbolist, Pre-Raphaelite, and Art Nouveau movements.
