Albert Alejo
Albert "Paring Bert" Eduave Alejo (born August 25, 1958, Cagayan de Oro) is a Filipino Jesuit, anthropologist, activist, and Tagalog poet. His areas of interest include: corruption and violence and the formation of social conscience; intercultural and interreligious dialogue; social research; and creative writing. Education Alejo holds a doctorate in Social anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has taught at the Ateneo de Davao, Ateneo de Zamboanga, Ateneo de Manila University, and the Pontifical Gregorian University. Writing In the 1990s, Alejo lived among the Lumad of Mindanao and was witness (and active participant) to their long-drawn struggle for the recognition of ancestral rights. His experience is documented in the ethnographic work ''Generating Energies in Mount Apo: Cultural Politics in a Contested Environment,'' published in 2000. Cagayan De Oro
Cagayan ( ), officially the Province of Cagayan ( ilo, Probinsia ti Cagayan; ibg, Provinsiya na Cagayan; itv, Provinsiya ya Cagayan; fil, Lalawigan ng Cagayan), is a province in the Philippines located in the Cagayan Valley region, covering the northeastern tip of Luzon. Its capital is the city of Tuguegarao. It is about northwest of Manila, and includes the Babuyan Islands to the north. Mindanao ( ) ( Jawi: مينداناو) is the second-largest island in the Philippines, after Luzon, and seventh-most populous island in the world. Located in the southern region of the archipelago, the island is part of an island group of the same name that also includes its adjacent islands, notably the Sulu Archipelago. Loob
In Philippine culture, loob or kalooban refers to one's inner self, or, more specifically, to the internal dimension of a person's identity. Its external counterpart is ''labas'' - the physical, outward appearance. Loob is a core concept in Filipino Psychology, a field which is unthinkable without both the internal and external dimensions, "''loob''"/"''labas''". Loob or kalooban has been compared to similar concepts in other Southeast Asian and Oceanian cultures, such as the Indonesian concept of ''batin'' or ''kebatinan''.
