Albatros Airlines (Turkey)
Albatros Airlines was a charter airline from Turkey that operated from 1992 to 1996 (do not confuse with Albatros Airways from Albania). History This airline began operations in May 1992 with B727-200 to transport German tourists to holiday resorts in Turkey. The airline suspended operations temporarily in 1993 and the B727-200s were leased to Macedonian Airlines. During the summer season of 1995, Albatros Airlines was back in the air using B737-200 and Yakovlev Yak-42 aircraft. Following the Birgenair disaster, German operators stopped booking flights on Turkish charter airlines and Albatros Airlines ceased operations in March 1996. Air Charter
Air charter is the business of renting an entire aircraft (i.e., chartering) as opposed to individual aircraft seats (i.e., purchasing a ticket through a traditional airline). Regulation Charter – also called air taxi or ad hoc – flights require certification from the associated country's civil aviation authority. The regulations are differentiated from typical commercial/passenger service by offering a non-scheduled service. Albatros Airways Sh.p.k was a low-cost airline based in Tirana in Albania. It flew to destinations in Italy using Fokker 100 aircraft. Its main base was Rinas Mother Teresa Airport (TIA), Tirana. On 1 September 2006 the airline was grounded, only with one phone call on 31 August 2006, by the Albanian aviation authorities because of unpaid airport and air traffic control fees. History The airline was established and started operations on 3 November 2004. On September 1, 2006, the airline was grounded and according to local media it was advised to stop selling tickets. The grounding led to heavy political controversies in Albania. Boeing 727
The Boeing 727 is an American narrow-body airliner that was developed and produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After the heavy 707 quad-jet was introduced in 1958, Boeing addressed the demand for shorter flight lengths from smaller airports. On December 5, 1960, the 727 was launched with 40 orders each from United Airlines and Eastern Air Lines. The first 727-100 rolled out November 27, 1962, first flew on February 9, 1963, and entered service with Eastern on February 1, 1964.
