Albanian Alternative (, ) is a political party representing the Albanian minority in Montenegro. The party is led by Nik Gjeloshaj. At the legislative elections in Montenegro, in October 2012, AA won 1 out of 81 seats. Between 2009 and 2016, the party was a constituent member of the Albanian Coalition. Albanians In Montenegro
Albanians in Montenegro (; ) are ethnic Albanians who constitute 4.97% of Montenegro's total population. They belong to the ethnic Albanian sub-group of Ghegs, and they are the largest non-Slavs, Slavic ethnic group in Montenegro. Albanians are particularly concentrated in southeastern and eastern Montenegro alongside the border with Albania in the following municipalities including Ulcinj Municipality, Ulcinj (73.5% of total population), Tuzi Municipality, Tuzi (62.6%), Gusinje Municipality, Gusinje (34.4%), Plav Municipality, Plav (9.4%), and Rožaje Municipality, Rožaje (5.1%). The largest Montenegrin town with significant Albanian population is Ulcinj, where the Albanian National Council is located. 2016 Montenegrin Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Montenegro on 16 October 2016. The ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) remained the largest party, winning 36 of the 81 seats, and subsequently formed a coalition government with the new Social Democrats and national minority parties. The elections were held in the midst of an alleged coup d'état attempt. 2023 Montenegrin Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Montenegro on 11 June 2023. Parliament had been dissolved by President Milo Đukanović just three days before the 2023 presidential elections were held, in which he lost to Europe Now! candidate Jakov Milatović. Europe Now! emerged as the largest party in Parliament, winning 24 of the 81 seats. The Together! alliance led by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) finished second with 21 seats, the first time the DPS failed to win most seats since the introduction of multi-party politics in 1990. The Albanian List (, abbr. LSh; , abbr. AL) was an electoral list of political parties and smaller lists representing the Albanian minority in Montenegro. It consisted of the Albanian Alternative (AA), New Democratic Force (Forca), (LDSH), Tuzi Union, and Civic Initiative "Perspective". The list won one seat in the 2020 parliamentary election, with Genci Nimanbegu of Forca being elected to the national parliament.
