Alastair Scott (cricketer)
Alastair Martin Gordon Scott (born 31 March 1966) is a former English cricketer. Scott was a right-handed batsman who bowled left-arm medium pace. He was born in Guildford, Surrey. While studying at the University of Cambridge, Scott made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Essex at Fenner's. He made eight further first-class appearances for the university in that season, taking 25 wickets at an average of 35.16, with best figures of 5/68, which came against Nottinghamshire. He was selected to play in the Combined Universities team to play in the 1985 Benson & Hedges Cup, making his List A debut in the tournament against Surrey and making three further appearances in the competition. In 1986, he made seven first-class appearances for the university, taking 18 wickets at an average of 45.22, with best figures of 4/100. Middlesex County Cricket Club
Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. Oxford University Cricket Club
Oxford University Cricket Club (OUCC), which represents the University of Oxford, had held first-class status since 1827 when it made its debut in the inaugural University Match between OUCC and Cambridge University Cricket Club (CUCC). Following the 2021 University Match, OUCC lost its first-class status. It was classified as a List A team in 1973 only. The University Match
The University Match is an annual cricket fixture between Oxford University Cricket Club and Cambridge University Cricket Club. First played in 1827, it is the oldest varsity match in the world. Until 2001, when first-class cricket was reorganised, the University Match was a three-day first-class fixture, played at Lord's. Subsequently, it was replaced with a one-day University Match played at Lord's and a four-day first-class fixture played alternately at Fenner's and The Parks. The 2021 one-day match was the last to be played at Lord's and, from 2022, the one-day University Match has been played at Arundel Castle.
