Alaska (singer)
Olvido Gara Jova (born June 13, 1963), known professionaly as Alaska, is a Spanish-Mexican singer, songwriter, actress, television host and DJ. She was born and raised in Mexico City, where she spent her first ten years, until she moved to Spain with her family. In Spain, she was a guitarist in the group Kaka de Luxe, until 1979, when she became the vocalist and composer of Alaska y los Pegamoides, a group with which she reached her first number one thanks to "Bailando", acquiring great recognition at a national level and in some Spanish-speaking countries. From 1983, she was the vocalist and composer of Alaska y Dinarama; group with which she continued releasing albums that reached a wide popularity. ''La Movida Madrileña'' (, ''The Madrilenian Scene''), also known as ''La Movida'', was a countercultural movement that took place mainly in Madrid during the Spanish transition to democracy after the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975. The movement coincided with economic growth in Spain and a widespread desire for the development of a post-Francoist identity. América Arias
América Arias López, also known as América Arias de Gómez (October 6, 1857 – April 23, 1935) was a Cuban philanthropist and benefactor, known for her charitable initiatives, as well as her support for various organizations and publications in Cuba. Arias was the second First Lady of Cuba from 1909 to 1913 as the wife of President José Miguel Gómez. Miguel Mariano Gómez
Miguel Mariano Gómez y Arias (; October 6, 1889 – October 26, 1950) was a Cuban politician who served as the seventh President of Cuba for just over eight months in 1936. Compared to other administrations, there was general peace and tranquillity in Cuba during Gómez's brief presidency. It is claimed that he was a talented orator and writer, and the opposite of the typical "man on a horseback" attributed to previous Cuban Presidents with military backgrounds. Osvaldo Dorticós Torrado
Osvaldo Dorticós Torrado (; 17 April 1919 – 23 June 1983) was a Cuban politician who served as the president of Cuba from 1959 to 1976. He was a close ally of Cuban revolutionary and longtime leader Fidel Castro. Background Dorticós was born to a wealthy family in Cienfuegos, Las Villas Province, on 17 April 1919. Nacho Canut
Ignacio "Nacho" Canut Guillén (born 5 June 1957) is the bass player and the main composer (along with Alaska (singer), Alaska) of the band Fangoria (band), Fangoria. He was also in the music groups Alaska y los Pegamoides and Alaska y Dinarama together with Carlos Berlanga and Alaska. He started his career with Kaka de Luxe in 1977, one of the first punk bands in Spain. Later, along with Berlanga and Alaska, Nacho Canut formed Alaska y los Pegamoides with Ana Curra and Eduardo Benavente. Alaska y los Pegamoides would become one of the cornerstones of La Movida Madrileña countercultural movement and an important influence for many Spanish punk bands.
