Alan Jarrott
Alan Jarrott (born 17 August 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the North Melbourne Football Club and Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Jarrott, who came from Moyhu in the Ovens & King Football League in rural Victoria and won the club's 1974 best and fairest award. Jarrott was also runner up in the 1974 Ovens & King Football League senior football best and fairest award, the Clyde Baker Medal, with 28 votes. At North Melbourne was used as a half back flanker and ruck-rover during his career. He made his debut in the 17th round of the 1977 VFL season and kept his place in the side until the preliminary final, when he was dropped. As a result, he missed out on participating in North Melbourne's second VFL premiership. He played a semi final in 1978 but again was dropped and missed another grand final. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Ovens & King Football League
The Ovens & King Football Netball League is a minor country Australian rules football league based in North-Eastern Victoria in the vicinity of Wangaratta and more recently Benalla. History The ''Ovens & King Football League'' was formed on the 13th of June 1903, after a handful of men met at The Bulls Head Hotel in Wangaratta to consider forming a football competition. One week later, the first matches of the Ovens & King Football Association were played. The competition changed its name to the Ovens and King Football League after the 1928 season. The 1977 VFL season was the 81st season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 2 April until 1 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. ''World of Sport'' was an Australian sports program that was broadcast live by HSV-7 in Melbourne from 1959 to 1987 on Sundays between 11am and 2pm. By the end of its run, the show was claimed as the world's longest running sports program.
