Alan Hume
Alan Hume, (16 October 1924 – 13 July 2010) was an English cinematographer. Life and career Hume arrived at Denham Film Studios in 1942, and worked for Cineguild Productions during the late 1940s. His early credits, prior to being called up to the Royal Navy and Fleet Air Arm during the Second World War, included ''Oliver'' and ''The First of the Few'' (1942). Post-war, he served as a camera operator for ''Great Expectations'' (1946), '' Madeleine'' (1950) and ''The End of the Affair'' (1955). During the 1960s, he was director of photography for the successful '' Carry On'' comedy films, beginning with 1961's ''Carry On Regardless''; eventually, Hume alternated with Ernest Steward in the position of the series' regular director of photography. Hume's other cinematographic work during the 1960s included the horror films ''The Kiss of the Vampire'' (1962, for Hammer Films) and ''Dr. Terror's House of Horrors'' (1965, for Amicus Productions). The British Society of Cinematographers (abbreviated B.S.C. or BSC) is an organisation formed in 1949 by Bert Easey (23 August 1901 – 28 February 1973), the then head of the Denham and Pinewood studio camera departments, to represent British cinematographers in the British film industry. A camera operator, or depending on the context cameraman or camerawoman, is a professional operator of a film camera or video camera as part of a film crew. The term "cameraman" does not necessarily imply that a male is performing the task. ''Carry On Regardless'' is a 1961 British comedy film, the fifth in the series of 31 ''Carry On'' films (1958–1992). The film revolves loosely around the activities of a job agency, 'Helping Hand', run by Sid James's character, Bert Handy. By now a fairly regular team was established with Sid James, Kenneth Connor, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims and Kenneth Williams all having appeared in previous entries.
