Alan Ford (born 23 February 1938) is an English actor. He is best known for his roles in Guy Ritchie gangster movies '' Snatch'' and ''Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'', and from appearing as separate characters in eight different episodes of ''The Bill''. Early life Ford was born on 23 February 1938 in Camberwell, South London, the eldest son of a seamstress and a taxi driver, and grew up in Elephant and Castle. He left school at the age of 15 and took on various jobs, ending with two years of national service in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. Studies and training François Truffaut cast Ford as one of the firemen in his ''Fahrenheit 451''. Next, Ford secured a place at East 15 Acting School. A regular contributor to architectural journalism, Ford is author of ''Designing the Sustainable School'' and co-author of ''A Sense of Entry: Designing the Welcoming School''. Alan Ford (born July 2, 1943) is a former Canadian football player and executive. Currently he is a scout for the Montreal Alouettes. He played as defensive back and punter from 1965–1976 for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, and acted as Roughriders general manager from 1989–1999. He helped the Roughriders win the 1966 Grey Cup, and place second in 1967, in which he made the longest punt in Grey Cup history. He has been an executive for the Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, winning the 1989 Grey Cup with the Roughriders as general manager (GM). Alan Robert Ford (December 7, 1923 – November 3, 2008) was an American competition swimmer, Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder in two events. Ford won a silver medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, and was the first person to swim the 100-yard freestyle in under 50 seconds. Biography Born in the Panama Canal Zone, he moved to Sarasota, Florida from Midland, Michigan. Ford attended U.S schools in the Panama Canal Zone, Mercersburg Academy, and graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 1945. He served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy during the final months of World War II. During his prep and university swimming careers, Ford held numerous national and world records. Allan "Al" Ford (born August 13, 1950) is a Canadian retired professional boxer. He is a former CBF Lightweight Champion. Professional boxing career Ford made his debut as a professional boxer on October 20, 1967 (shortly after his seventeenth birthday), a 3rd round knockout win over Joe Hogue, who was also making his professional debut. Two months later Ford defeated Ron Lyke by first-round knockout. Ford fought an opponent with a winning record for the first time in his fifth fight, defeating 4-0 Mickey McMillan by split decision after eight rounds. Ford would win his first 37 fights, picking up the vacant Canadian lightweight title with a win against 9-1 Julie Mandell and successful defending it several times.
