Alan Grahame Brown
Alan Grahame Brown (23 October 1913 – 5 January 1972) was a British pharmaceutical chemist and politician. During a single term in Parliament, he abandoned the Labour Party and joined the Conservative Party due to policy differences. Early life Brown was born in Wood Green in north London, although his family was from Bedford and moved back there quickly. He attended Bedford School, and then decided to go into the field of pharmaceuticals by training at the College of the Pharmaceutical Society. Army career In 1932 Brown joined the 5th Battalion of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment, where he served for five years. At the end of his term he married a Bedford girl (they had two sons), and he also joined the Labour Party. However, his professional career as a pharmaceutical chemist had not had long to get going before he rejoined the Army in the Second World War. Alan Browne
Alan Browne (born 23 January 1974) is an Irish retired hurler who played for Cork Senior Championship club Blackrock. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 9 years, during which time he usually lined out as a forward. Browne began his hurling career at club level with Blackrock. He broke onto the club's top adult team straight out of the minor grade in 1992. One of the most prolific scorers of his era, Browne made 71 championship appearances for the club before his retirement in 2011 and was part of the Cork Senior Championship-winning teams of 1999, 2001 and 2002. At inter-county level, Browne was part of the successful Cork under-21 team that won the Munster Championship in 1993. He joined the Cork senior team in 1994. Alan James Browne (born 15 April 1995) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for club Sunderland and the Republic of Ireland national team. Club career Cork City Browne joined the Cork City U19 squad prior to the start of the 2012–13 season, graduating to the senior squad the following season. He was named on the substitutes' bench twice in the 2013 season for games against Sligo Rovers and Drogheda United, but he failed to make a first-team appearance for the club before leaving. Preston North End Browne signed an 18-month contract with Preston North End in League One, joining them on 1 January 2014. Filmmaker Brown's first film, the half-hour narrative ''O Beautiful'', won the Future Filmmaker Award at the 2002 Palm Springs International Short Film Festival and was an official selection of the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Alan James Brown is a retired British police officer who spent his entire career with the Metropolitan Police in London. Brown joined the Metropolitan Police as a cadet in 1974. He was promoted to sergeant four years later and spent most of his career as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Department, rising through every rank to detective superintendent, with a year's stint as a uniformed inspector. He was promoted to chief superintendent in 1997 and became commander of the Brompton Division ( Kensington and Chelsea). Promoted to commander in November 1999, Brown headed the Serious and Organised Crime Group, including the Flying Squad, Operation Trident and SO19. Brigadier Alan Ward Brown (8 July 1909 – 1 September 1971) was a British Army tank officer of the Second World War. Military career Brown was educated at Bromsgrove School and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, before being commissioned into the Royal Tank Corps (later the Royal Tank Regiment) on 30 January 1930. He served with the 5th Battalion until 1931, and then he served with the 2nd Armoured Car Company in India until 1935. He fought in the Mohmand campaign of 1935, during which he was awarded the Military Cross. Brown then served in the 2nd Battalion RTC until 1939. Following the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Brown attended a shortened course at the Staff College, Camberley from January to April 1940. Alan Brown (born 10 September 1980 in Dundee, Scotland) is a former Scotland Club XV international rugby union player for Glasgow Warriors, who played at the Tighthead Prop position, although he could also be used in the Back Row if necessitated. Alan also went on to be a very successful coach after his player and assistant coach days. In 2018 he moved to Strathmore RFC, and in his first season they won the league and gained promotion as well as the quarter-finals of the Scottish cup. Alan then returned to Dundee rugby as head coach for the latter 2020 season. The team competes in the Scottish National League Division One.
