Alan Black (basketball)
Alan Black (born 1 May 1957) is an Australian former professional basketball player and coach. He is most notable for coaching both the Perth Wildcats and the Cairns Taipans in the Australian National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League. Black has three children, sons Stephen Black, Stephen (former NBL player) and Andrew, and daughter Marissa. Playing career Black started his NBL playing career in the league's inaugural year, 1979, playing for the Nunawading Spectres. In 1981, he was a member of the Nunawading side that lost to Launceston Casino City in the Grand Final that season. After seven seasons with the Spectres, Black made the move west in 1986 to play for the Perth Wildcats. In 1987, Black was once again a member of a losing Grand Final side when the Wildcats were defeated by the Brisbane Bullets. Alan Black (15 January 1943 – 5 March 2007) was known as one of the presenters of BBC's ''Sounds of the Seventies''. After having worked as a disc jockey for a series of commercial radio stations in the mid-1960s, Black joined the BBC in July 1968, with a programme on BBC Radio 1: ''Midday Spin''. White hunter is a literary term used for professional big game hunters of European descent, from all over the world, who plied their trade in Africa, especially during the first half of the 20th century. The activity continues in the dozen African countries which still permit big-game hunting. White hunters derived their income from organizing and leading safaris for paying clients, or from the sale of ivory. The term "great white hunter" emphasizes the racial and colonial aspects of the profession, as well as its colorful aspects. Alan the Black (, ; died 1098) was the second lord of the Honour of Richmond from 1093 until his death. He was a younger son of Odo, Count of Penthièvre.
