Alain Madeleine-Perdrillat
Alain Madeleine-Perdrillat (7 September 1949, Paris) is a French art historian. Biography Alain Madeleine-Perdrillat led the Communications Department of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux for several years then the communication service of the institut national d'histoire de l'art. He is the author of a monograph on Seurat (Skira, 1990), a study of the correspondence of Nicolas de Staël (Hazan, 2003) as well as popular books on painting. A poetry lover, he wrote in journals about Yves Bonnefoy and Philippe Jaccottet. He also translated ''Masolino et Masaccio'' by Roberto Longhi (1981). The Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RMN) is a French cultural umbrella organisation, an établissement public à caractère industriel et commercial (EPIC), formed in 2011, through the merger of the Paris National Museums and the Grand Palais. Georges Seurat
Georges Pierre Seurat ( , , ; 2 December 1859 – 29 March 1891) was a French post-Impressionist artist. He devised the painting techniques known as chromoluminarism and pointillism and used conté crayon for drawings on paper with a rough surface. Seurat's artistic personality combined qualities that are usually thought of as opposed and incompatible: on the one hand, his extreme and delicate sensibility, on the other, a passion for logical abstraction and an almost mathematical precision of mind. Nicolas de Staël (; January 5, 1914 – March 16, 1955) was a French painter of Russian origin known for his use of a thick impasto and his highly abstract landscape painting. He also worked with collage, illustration and textiles. Yves Jean Bonnefoy (24 June 1923, Tours – 1 July 2016 Paris) was a French poet and art historian. He also published a number of translations, most notably the plays of William Shakespeare which are considered among the best in French. Philippe Jaccottet
Philippe Jaccottet (; 30 June 1925 – 24 February 2021) was a Swiss Francophone poet and translator. Life and work After completing his studies in Lausanne, he lived for several years in Paris. In 1953, he moved to the town of Grignan in Provence. He has translated numerous authors and poets into French, including Goethe, Hölderlin, Mann, Mandelstam, Góngora, Leopardi, Musil, Rilke, Homer and Ungaretti. He was awarded the German international Petrarca-Preis in 1988 for his poetry. In 2014, Philippe Jaccottet became the fifteenth living author to be published in the prestigious ''Bibliothèque de la Pléiade''. After Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Blaise Cendrars and Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz, he was the fourth Swiss author to be published in the ''Bibliothèque de la Pléiade''.
