Al Lowe
Albert William Lowe (born July 24, 1946) is an American video game designer who developed several adventure games, mostly for Sierra On-Line. He created the '' Leisure Suit Larry'' series. He has also worked as a casting director, voice director, writer, director, producer, background photographer, actor and executive producer. Career Teaching, early programming Lowe began his working life teaching public school music for 15 years. He taught himself programming during a sick leave. He quit teaching and pursued a career in programming. In 1982 he created three video games for the Apple II: ''Dragon's Keep'', ''Bop-A-Bet'', and ''Troll's Tale''. He was on ''Name That Tune'' in the 1984–85 season and was a semifinalist in one of that season's Tournaments of Champions. Sierra Entertainment bought these games in 1983 and Lowe worked for them as a programmer and game designer for 16 years. Gamescom
Gamescom (stylized as ''gamescom'') is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Gamescom is the world's largest gaming event, with 370,000 visitors and 1,037 exhibitors from 56 countries attending the event in 2018. The event is used by many video game developers to exhibit upcoming games and game-related hardware. The "gamescom - Opening Night Live" (ONL) show takes place every year on the evening before the opening. The show presents the latest trailers and announcements from the international games industry and is hosted by Geoff Keighley. Alongside the public areas, there is also a closed area for professional visitors, such as publishers, journalists and developers. Troll's Tale
''Troll's Tale'' is an adventure video game developed in by Sunnyside Soft and published by Sierra On-Line for the Apple II in 1983. It uses the same engine for Sunnysoft's earlier game ''Dragon's Keep (video game), Dragon's Keep''. Sierra acquired the game from Sunnysoft, along with ''Dragon's Keep'' and ''Bop-A-Bet'' by April 1983 and appointed Nancy Anderton to manage the publishing of their educational games. Peter Oliphant converted the games for the Atari 8-bit computers, Commodore 64 and, as a self-booting disk, IBM PC compatibles. Coleco made a deal with Sierra planning to release the game on ColecoVision with a Super Game Module. The game came packaged with a paper map, showing an incomplete layout of the game and stickers to mark the treasure locations. ''Next Generation'' was a US video game magazine that was published by Imagine Media (now Future US). It was affiliated to and shared content with the UK's '' Edge'' magazine. ''Next Generation'' ran from January 1995 until January 2002. It was published by Jonathan Simpson-Bint and edited by Neil West. Other editors included Chris Charla, Tom Russo, and Blake Fischer. ''Next Generation'' initially covered the 32-bit consoles including 3DO, Atari Jaguar, and the then-still unreleased Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Josh Mandel (video Game Designer)
Josh Mandel (born October 9, 1958) is an American video game writer, designer, voice actor, and producer. He worked on computer games such as '' King's Quest V'', '' The Dagger of Amon Ra'', '' Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist'', ''Space Quest 6'', and ''Callahan's Crosstime Saloon''. Sierra Entertainment Josh Mandel joined Sierra Entertainment in 1990. He was the first person to play the voice of King Graham, the hero of the ''King's Quest'' series. He also played Shamir Shamazel in '' King's Quest VI'', Steve Dorian in '' The Dagger of Amon Ra'', and numerous other minor roles. ''Torin's Passage'' is a point-and-click adventure game developed and published by Sierra On-Line in 1995. The game was designed by Al Lowe, author of the ''Leisure Suit Larry'' series. Gameplay The player interacts with Torin and the in-game environments using a point-and-click interface. Placing the cursor over certain "hot spots" in the environment allows him to move around, examine things and pick up items. There is also an inventory system used to access the items Torin collects during the course of the game. The player can switch to Torin's pet Boogle as well, although he is mainly used to morph into various items. The items he can morph into replace the items in Torin's inventory. ''The Black Cauldron'' is an adventure game designed by Al Lowe of Sierra On-Line and published in 1985. The game is based on the Disney film '' The Black Cauldron'', which was itself based on the '' Chronicles of Prydain'' novel of the same name by Lloyd Alexander. It was made shortly after the first ''King's Quest'' game, so it resembles that game in many ways.
