Al Amarat
Al ‘Āmrāt () or Al Amarat is a city in Muscat, in northeastern Oman. Al Amarat is the fifth (out of six) most populated province in the Muscat Governorate after Muscat itself, As Seeb, Bawshar and Muttrah. Al Amarat is categorized as a Wilayat with its own Wali (Mayor) office, municipality, police station, and government offices. Oman is divided into eleven governorates ('' muhafazah'') as of 28 October 2011. Each of the 11 governorates are divided into '' wilayat'' ( provinces). Regions and governorates before 2011 Before 28 October 2011, Oman was divided into five regions ('' mintaqah'') and four governorates ('' muhafazah''). Bawshar
Bawshar ( ''Bawšar'') is one of the provinces of Muscat, in northeastern Oman. The province borders wilayat Muttrah in the east and wilayat Seeb in the west, it overlooks the Sea of Oman to the north. It contains several archaeological sites and the Qurm Nature Reserve Ramsar site. According to the 2010 National Census, the population of wilayat Bawshar was 192,235 spread over its 43 villages and towns. Muttrah
Muttrah, () administratively a province, is located in the Muscat Governorate of Oman. Before the discovery of oil in Oman, Muttrah was the center of commerce in Oman (Muscat). It is still a center of commerce as one of the largest seaports of the region is located there.
