Shahidul Islam (politician)
Shahidul Islam (; 15 March 1960 – 27 January 2023), was a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar and politician. He was a member of parliament for the Narail-2 constituency, after winning a by-election in 2002. Early life and education Shahidul Islam was born on 15 March 1960 to a Bengali Muslim family in Jhiltuli, Faridpur, East Pakistan. His father, Shamsul Haque Sardar, hailed from Lohagara in Narail (formerly under Jessore District). In 1988, he received his master's degree in hadith studies from Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia in Karachi, Pakistan. On 6 February 2023, at 04:17 Time in Turkey, TRT (01:17 Coordinated Universal Time, UTC), a 7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Ba'athist Syria, Syria. The epicenter was west–northwest of Gaziantep. The earthquake had a maximum Modified Mercalli intensity scale, Mercalli intensity of XII (''Extreme'') around the epicenter and in Antakya. ''Samakal'' () is a Bengali-language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The paper is owned by Ha-Meem Group. It began publication in 2005. Golam Sarwar was the editor of the paper from its launch until his death in 2018. In 2020, Samakal had a circulation of 270,000, which made it the eighth most widely read newspaper in the country. Qawmi Madrasa
Qawmi Madrasah (, ) is an adjective describing one of the two major madrasah educational categories in Bangladesh. The Qawmi madrasahs are not regulated by the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board. As private charitable organizations, Qawmi madrasahs are supported almost exclusively by donation. In the past, the degrees they conferred lacked accreditation or official recognition, unlike those conferred by official Alia madrasahs (also spelled "Aliya" and "Aliah"), which follow the Calcutta Alia tradition. Starting in 2006, two years after the founding of the privately run Befaqul Mudarressin education board for Qawmi madrasahs, the Government of Bangladesh began to recognize some Qawmi degrees.
