Al-Jabal Brigade
The Jabal Brigade (, ) is a Druze militia operating primarily in the al-Suwayda Governorate of southern Syria. Established during the Syrian civil war, the group has been involved in various military operations and has played a significant role in regional security dynamics. As-Suwayda Governorate
As-Suwayda or Al-Suwayda Governorate ( ar, مُحافظة السويداء / ALA-LC: ''Muḥāfaẓat as-Suwaydā’'') is one of the fourteen governorates (provinces) of Syria. It is the southernmost governorate and has an area of 5,550 km² and forms part of the historic Hawran region. Its capital and major city is al-Suwayda. Geographically the governorate comprises almost all of Jabal al-Druze, the eastern part of Lejah, and a part of the arid eastern steppe of Harrat al-Shamah. Most of As-Suwayda inhabitants work in agriculture, planting grapes, apple, olive, and wheat in general. In addition, there are four clearly demarcated seasons (winter, spring, summer, and fall) which gives As-Suwayda nice weather and beautiful natural sites. Sheikh Al-Karama Forces
The Sheikh al-Karama Forces is an armed group based in the As-Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria, that emerged during the Syrian civil war. Composed of Druze locals, the group was led by two brothers who are the sons of the founder of another Druze militia group called the Men of Dignity in 2012 and led his group until his death in 2015. Despite the group clashing with Syrian government forces and Hezbollah on numerous occasions, it was not part of the nationwide Free Syrian Army or general Syrian opposition. Members of the Druze community and the group were targeted by the Syrian Ba'athist government, the group claims that several members of the Druze community in the Suwayda governorate were arrested and tortured under terrorism charges. Southern Syria (سوريا الجنوبية, ''Suriyya al-Janubiyya'') is the southern part of the Syria region, roughly corresponding to the Southern Levant.
