Iraqi Second Division League
The Iraqi Second Division League is a Association football, football league that is the fourth tier of the Iraqi football league system. The league was founded in 1974, and consists of 20 teams split into two groups in the first stage. The top four teams in each group qualify for the second stage, where they are split into two further groups. The two group winners in the second stage are promoted directly to the Iraqi First Division League, while the two bottom teams in the first stage are relegated to the Iraqi Third Division League. In the 2023–24 Iraqi Second Division League, 2023–24 season, Al-Jaish SC (Iraq), Al-Jaish won the championship title after defeating Al-Falluja SC, Al-Falluja 4–2 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in the final match. Al Anbar Governorate
Al Anbar Governorate (; ''muḥāfaẓat al-’Anbār''), or Anbar Province, is the largest governorate in Iraq by area. Encompassing much of the country's western territory, it shares borders with Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The population is mostly Sunni Arabs. The provincial capital is Ramadi; other important cities include Fallujah, Al-Qa'im and Haditha. The governorate was known as Ramadi up to 1976 when it was renamed Al Anbar Province, and it was known as ''Dulaim'' before 1962. The 2001–02 Iraq FA Cup was the 24th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition. The tournament was won by Al-Talaba for the first time in their history, after losing in the final six previous times. They beat Al-Shorta SC, Al-Shorta 1–0 in the final, preventing Al-Shorta from completing the Double (association football)#Cup Double, cup double. Al-Talaba also won the 2001–02 Iraqi Elite League to complete their first ever double. The tournament consisted of 100 teams for the first time. 2002–03 Iraq FA Cup
The 2002–03 Iraq FA Cup was the 25th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football. It kicked off on 2 September 2002, and the final was played on 23 August 2003 at the Franso Hariri Stadium in Erbil. Al-Talaba were the defending champions of the cup having beaten Al-Shorta 1–0 in the 2002 final, and the same was repeated in 2003 as Al-Talaba beat Al-Shorta 1–0 again to earn their second title. The competition was halted for more than six months after the quarter-finals due to the American invasion of Iraq, but the Iraq Football Association decided to complete the tournament, reducing the semi-finals to a single leg and moving the remaining matches to the safer northern city of Erbil. The 2012–13 Iraq FA Cup was the 26th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football. It was the first edition held since the 2002–03 season. The tournament was cancelled during the Round of 32 because of scheduling difficulties the Iraq Football Association had with the 2012–13 Iraqi Elite League. Format Participation The cup starts with a qualifying round of 13 teams from the Iraqi First Division League, 12 of which play against each other and one of which proceeds to the playoff round. The playoff round gets played between three teams from the First Division League and one from the Iraqi Elite League. The other 17 teams of the Iraqi Elite League and the rest of the First Division League join the other teams in the Round of 32.
