Korol I Shut
Korol i Shut () were a Russian horror punk band from Saint Petersburg that took inspiration and costumes from tales and fables. History The band was formed in 1988 by a group of school friends in Leningrad (current day Saint Petersburg). The founding members were Mikhail "Gorshok" Gorsheniov (), Aleksandr "Balu" Balunov (), and Aleksandr "Lieutenant" Shchigoliev (). Singer Andrei "Kniaz" Kniazev () joined the band in 1990 and guitarist Yakov Tsvirkunov () joined in 1996. The band's name, which means "The King and the Jester," was adopted in 1992. Previously, the band was called Kontora (). Korol' i Shut's lyrics are written by Kniazev and feature horror stories and folk tales about pirates, trolls, ghosts and vampires, as well as Slavic mythology. The band recorded their music for the first time in 1991 in a semi-professional studio. Their music was broadcast on the radio soon after and they began to tour around Saint Petersburg's clubs. ''Kukla, Fran and Ollie'' is an early American television show using puppets. It was created for children, but was soon watched by more adults than children. It did not have a script and was entirely ad-libbed. It was broadcast from Chicago between October 13, 1947, and August 30, 1957. Comedienne Fran Allison starred, interacting with puppets, Kukla and Ollie (and sometimes other puppets) whose puppeteer was the show's creator, Burr Tillstrom. After the original run, the team appeared in other productions over several decades. Original series Burr Tillstrom was the creator and only puppeteer on the show, which premiered as the hour-long ''Junior Jamboree'' locally on WBKB in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13, 1947. The program was renamed ''Kukla, Fran and Ollie'' (''KFO'') and transferred to WNBQ (the predecessor of Chicago's WMAQ-TV) on November 29, 1948.
