''Aksyon'' () is a Philippine television news broadcasting show that aired on TV5. Originally anchored by Paolo Bediones, Erwin Tulfo and Cheryl Cosim, it premiered on April 5, 2010, on the network's evening line up replacing ''TEN: The Evening News''. The show concluded on March 16, 2020. Luchi Cruz-Valdes and Ed Lingao served as the final anchors. It was replaced by ''Frontline Pilipinas'' in its timeslot. Background The name of the newscast is based on News5's slogan "''Higit sa Balita, Aksyon!''", (trans. ''"Beyond the news, Action!"''). History 2010–2014: As a primetime newscast ''Aksyon'' premiered on April 5, 2010, at 9:00 PM with Paolo Bediones and Cheryl Cosim as its first anchors. AKTV (pronounced "active", officially branded as AKTV on IBC) was the primetime sports programming block in the Philippines. Owned and operated by TV5, it occupied the 5 pm to 11 pm timeslot of IBC; weekend coverage usually began at 11 am to 11 pm. It started on June 5, 2011, and it ended on May 31, 2013 due to high airtime costs and low ratings.
