Akira (album)
Black Cab is a Melbourne-based drone and electronica group. The band has released six studio albums. Biography 1999–2008: ''Altamont Diary'' and ''Jesus East'' Melbourne-based Australian band Black Cab's principal songwriters are guitarist James Lee and vocalist Andrew Coates, who originally performed together in early 1990s industrial rock group Foil. After an initial collaboration in 1999 produced a limited edition 3-track EP entitled ''Illinois Chapter'', Coates moved to San Francisco and began writing what would become the band's first full-length album, '' Altamont Diary'' (2004), a concept album loosely based on the Rolling Stones' Altamont Free Concert. The album was recorded gradually over a two-year period and was produced and mixed by Melbourne producer Woody Annison. High Pass Filter (band)
High Pass Filter were a live electro-dub band formed in Melbourne, Australia. The band was active from 1995–2006 and supported many major touring artists such as Beastie Boys, Blues Explosion, Tortoise, Fugazi, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, The Boredoms and Mad Professor. The group began as a live dub outfit playing local clubs and bars around Melbourne's Fitzroy area. They quickly became known for their experimental sound and mostly instrumental songs. Live concerts regularly involved the use of unconventional instruments such as looped tape machines, conch shells, telephone receivers, air tubes and a variety of toys. During early shows, guitarist Kelly Ryall regularly played one of the infamous Travis Bean aluminium neck guitars - a TB1000 owned by bassist Anthony Paine. ''Ronald Stephen Peno (26 July 1955 – 11 August 2023), who also performed as Ron S. Peno and Ronnie Pop, was an Australian Rock music in Australia, rock singer and songwriter who fronted Died Pretty from 1983 to 2021. Prior to forming ''Died Pretty'' (1983-2002), Peno was founder and frontman of punk band ''The Hellcats'' (1976-1977), followed by hard rock band ''The 31st'' (1979-1981) and a brief stint with The Screaming Tribesmen (1981). Died Pretty, sometimes The Died Pretty, were an Australian alternative rock band founded by mainstays Ron Peno (lead singer) and Brett Myers (lead guitarist and backing vocalist) in Sydney in 1983. Their music started from a base of early electric Bob Dylan with psychedelic influences, including The Velvet Underground and Television. They were managed by John Needham, who is the owner of Citadel Records, their main label. Sam Cutler (born Brendan Lawrence Lyons; 10 March 1943 – 11 July 2023) was an English tour manager for The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, and other acts. Early life and career Cutler was born on 10 March 1943. He was an Honours Graduate in Contemporary History (Open University (OU)) and a qualified teacher (University of Cambridge Institute of Education 1963–66). Cutler's OU degree was gained at the end of the 1980s.
