Akihito Okano
is a Japanese musician, vocalist of rock band Porno Graffitti. Okano was born in Nakasho, Innoshima City (now Onomichi City), Hiroshima. He is married with one child. Biography and early career Early life Okano is the youngest of three siblings (he has two older sisters). His parents wanted to name him "Satoru", but received the name of Akihito from his uncle, as part of a family tradition. As a child, he wanted to be an athlete. He played baseball in elementary school, and was in track and field and soccer in junior high. His interest in music started in elementary school, when he started listening to Western music thanks to one of his sisters, and singing Japanese songs in family reunions. Akihito (born 23 December 1933) is a member of the Imperial House of Japan who reigned as the 125th emperor of Japan from 1989 until 2019 Japanese imperial transition, his abdication in 2019. The era of his rule was named the Heisei era, Heisei being an expression of achieving peace worldwide. The band got their name from the album ''Pornograffitti'' by the band Extreme (band), Extreme. They currently record under the SME Records label and their agency is Amuse, Inc. History Haruichi Shindō originally formed the band with his cousin during high school and named it "No Score." After the band started, Haruichi asked Akihito Okano and Tama to join. The band was so named because none of them could actually read a score when they first started.
