Akha People
The Akha are an ethnic group who live in small villages at higher elevations in the mountains of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Yunnan Province in China. They made their way from China into Southeast Asia during the early 20th century. Civil war in Burma and Laos resulted in an increased flow of Akha immigrants and there are now 80,000 people living in Thailand's Northern Thailand, northern provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. The Akha speak Akha language, Akha, a language in the Loloish languages, Loloish (Yi) branch of the Tibeto-Burman languages, Tibeto-Burman family. The Akha language is closely related to Lisu language, Lisu and it is thought that it was the Akha who once ruled the Baoshan, Yunnan, Baoshan and Tengchong plains in Yunnan before the invasion of the Ming Dynasty in 1644. Akha Language
Akha is the language spoken by the Akha people of southern China (Yunnan Province), eastern Burma (Shan State), northern Laos, and northern Thailand. Western scholars group Akha, Hani and Honi into the Hani languages, treating all three as separate mutually unintelligible, but closely related, languages. The Hani languages are, in turn, classified in the Southern Loloish subgroup of Loloish. Loloish and the Mru languages are closely related and are grouped within Tibeto-Burman as the Lolo-Burmese languages. In accordance with China's official classification of ethnic groups, which groups all speakers of Hani languages into one ethnicity, Chinese linguists consider all Hani languages, including Akha, to be dialects of a single language. Speakers of Akha live in remote mountainous areas where it has developed into a wide-ranging dialect continuum. Akha Bhagat
Akha Bhagat (commonly known as Akho; ) or Akha Rahiyadas Soni was a mediaeval Gujarati poet who wrote in the tradition of the Bhakti movement. He wrote his poems in a literary form called ''Chhappa'' (six stanza satirical poems). Life His exact dates are unknown, but according to scholars he lived from 1591 to 1656. A goldsmith by profession, he lived near Ahmedabad in Jetalpur, and later moved to Ahmedabad. His residence in Ahmedabad which is small room in Desaini Pol at Khadia is known as ''Akha no Ordo'' (literally "A room of Akha"). Akho was a goldsmith belonging to Hindu Soni caste and sub-caste Pasawala (Dhanpat). In Rajkot, Kothariya naka (one of the gate of fort) Chowk named after him Akha Bhagat Chowk.
