Barış Akarsu
Barış Akarsu (June 29, 1979 – July 4, 2007) was a Turkish Anatolian rock singer and actor who rose to fame after winning the television series ''Akademi Türkiye'' (Academy Turkey) in July 2004. He released two studio albums in three years and was also acting in television series ''Yalancı Yarim'' (My Lying Lover) which aired on Star TV. On June 29, 2007, he was seriously injured in a car crash on his way back from a charity concert for children. After spending five days in an intensive care unit, he died of complications from the crash on July 4, 2007, at the age of 28. He donated most of his concert money. Early life Akarsu was born and raised in Bartın, in northern Turkey. He was a huge fan of rock music, listening to music from Ruhi Su, Cem Karaca and Barış Manço as well as Western acts like Led Zeppelin or U2. Hikmet Temel Akarsu (born 1960) is a Turkish novelist, short story writer, satirist and playwright. Biography Hikmet Temel Akarsu was born in 1960 in Gümüşhane, Turkey. He moved to Istanbul with his family at the age of nine. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in architecture, he devoted himself to writing. Including essays, articles, critiques, plays and scenarios, he produced literal work in all fields. Besides his novel series, his satirical prose and critical essays found much acclaim in the society. His novel series, The Lost Generation (''Kayıp Kuşak''), (''İstanbul Dörtlüsü'') and (''Ölümsüz Antikite'') have all been printed by several publishers. Melisa Akarsu (born 1993) is a Turkish swimmer competing in the butterfly events. A member of Fenerbahçe Swimming in Istanbul, she is holder of national records in the 17-18 age category in 100 m butterfly with 1:02.02 and in 200 m butterfly with 2:17.00 set in June 2011. Akarsu ranked 8th in the 200 m butterfly event at the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships held in Chartres, France. She won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Palembang, Indonesia.
