Akapei Latu (born November 3, 1978) is a Tongan judoka, who competed in the men's lightweight category. Latu qualified as a lone judoka for the Tongan squad in the men's lightweight class (73 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by granting a tripartite invitation from the International Judo Federation. He received a bye in the opening round, before losing out in his first match to Algeria's Noureddine Yagoubi, who pinned and subdued him on the tatami with a kuchiki taoshi is a single leg takedown in Judo adopted later by the Kodokan into their Shinmeisho No Waza (newly accepted techniques) list. Tatami
are soft mats used as flooring material in traditional Japanese-style rooms. They are made in standard sizes, twice as long as wide, about , depending on the region. In martial arts, tatami are used for training in a dojo and for competition. Tatami are covered with a weft-faced weave of on a warp of hemp or weaker cotton. There are four warps per weft shed, two at each end (or sometimes two per shed, one at each end, to reduce cost). Noureddine Yagoubi
Nourredine Yagoubi (born 8 January 1974) is an Algerian judoka. Yagoubi represented Algeria at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In Sydney he competed in the Men's 73 kg weight category. Yagoubi's first bout was against Kouami Sacha Denanyoh of Togo, this bout Yagoubi was the victor. In the second round of competition, Yagoubi faced eventual silver medalists Tiago Camilo of Brazil, this bout Yagoubi lost but he was later put through to the repechages. Yagoubi's first repechage bout was against Israel's Gil Offer and Yougabi won, proceeding to the next round. In his second repechage bout, Yagoubi lost to Michel Almeida of Portugal, and this was his final bout of the Games.
