Edith Ajello
Edith H. Ajello (born April 26, 1944) is an American politician and retail store manager. A Democrat, she has served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives since 1993, representing District 1 since 2013, and District 3 from 1993 to 2013. She is also store manager for Rustigan Rugs, an oriental rug outlet in Providence. Early life Ajello was born in 1944 in Fanwood, New Jersey. She earned her BA in psychology from Bucknell University in neighboring Pennsylvania. Career Ajello works as a store manager for V. George Rustigian Rugs in Providence, Rhode Island, and also serves on the boards of the Women's Health & Education Fund, The Coalition to Preserve Choice, and the Mile of History Association (MoHa). Gaetan Ajello
Gaetan Ajello (1883–1983) was a New York-based architect. Born in Sicily, Ajello migrated to the United States in 1902. Styles and design Gaetan (Gaetano) Ajello is best known for his architecturally significant apartment houses located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Ajello designed thirty-eight apartment houses during his twenty-year career, and while most of them have survived intact, some have been altered. He engaged in both Renaissance architecture and Neoclassical architecture styles, but he consistently used limestone and terracotta. He also often included Tiffany-style windowed lobbies in his designs. Ajello also often designed lobbies that would shield from first view the elevators, presenting instead a staircase with a curved balustrade in order to recreate the experience of entering a single-family home. Matthew Of Ajello
Matthew of Ajello () was a high-ranking member of the Norman court of the Kingdom of Sicily in the 12th century. His brother John was a bishop. Career He first appears as the notary of the Admiral Maio of Bari who drew up the Treaty of Benevento of 1156. He rose to prominence in the next reign, that of William II of Sicily, becoming first grand protonotary and then chancellor. Maio groomed Matthew to be his successor and, it was alleged, even used him to get permission from Pope Alexander III in Rome for Maio to succeed William I in 1159. On 10 November 1160, Matthew warned Maio of an impending assassination attempt, but to no avail. While Matthew escaped, Maio was killed by Matthew Bonnellus. Nicholas of AjelloHe was not a native of Ajello (Calabria), but Salerno. His elder brother, Richard, received the county of Ajello from King Tancred and the name has been applied to the entire family. (; died 10 February 1221) was the second son of the Sicilian chancellor Matthew of Ajello and the archbishop of Salerno from 1181, when he succeeded the historian Romuald Guarna. He was a trusted advisor in the Norman Kingdom of Sicily at the time of its fall to Henry VI, Holy Roman Emperor (1194). Henry was helping his wife Constance I of Sicily press her claim to the Sicilian throne, which had been bequeathed to her by her late nephew William II, King of Sicily. Elena Aiello
Elena Aiello (10 April 1895 – 19 June 1961) was an Italian religious sister and the founder of the Minim Sisters of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Aiello joined the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood but was forced to leave due to grave health that soon kept her confined to her home where she began experiencing visions of both Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary as well as saints such as Francis of Paola. Her beatification was celebrated on 14 September 2011. Piera Aiello (; born 2 July 1967) is an Italian police informant and politician known for her stand against the Mafia. She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies.
