Aitchisonia
''Aitchisonia rosea'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Rubiaceae. It is a subshrub native to south-central Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It is the sole species in genus ''Aitchisonia''. The species and genus were named in 1882. Based on a phylogenetic analysis, Backlund and Thulin synonymized ''Aitchisonia'' with genus ''Plocama ''Plocama'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. It was described by William Aiton in 1789. It is distributed from the Canary Islands to northwestern India. The genus was expanded in 2007 when several other Rubiaceae genera we ...'', and renamed the species ''Plocama rosea''. In 2022 Borbar ''et al.'' concluded that the specimen used in Backlund and Thulin's analysis was of '' Plocama dubia'', and conducted a phylogenetic analysis of specimens newly collected in Iran. Plocama
''Plocama'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. It was described by William Aiton in 1789. It is distributed from the Canary Islands to northwestern India. The genus was expanded in 2007 when several other Rubiaceae genera were merged into it. There are now about 34 species.Backlund, M., Bremer, B., & Thulin, M. James Edward Tierney Aitchison
James Edward Tierney Aitchison MD LLD CIE (28 October 1835 – 30 September 1898) was a Scottish surgeon and botanist. He worked as British Commissioner to Ladakh, India in 1872 and collected numerous specimens from the region and published catalogues of plants including those of economic interest. The plant genus ''Aitchisonia'' was named after him by William Hemsley (botanist), Helmsley but the name is no longer in use. In authorship he is normally known as J. E. T. Aitchison. Life Aitchison was born in Neemuch in central India the second son of Major James Aitchison of the East India Company of Scotland. His mother Mary Turner was the sister of John William Turner and through her he took an interest in plants at an early age. William Botting Hemsley (29 December 1843, in East Hoathly – 7 October 1924, in Kent) was an English botanist and 1909 Victoria Medal of Honour recipient.
