Aisling Dolan
Aisling Dolan (born 1975/1976) is an Irish Fine Gael politician who served as a Senator from June 2020 to January 2025, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. Political career Dolan was elected to Galway County Council as an independent candidate at the 2019 local elections. She joined Fine Gael in November 2019. Dolan was an unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate in the 2020 general election for the Roscommon–Galway constituency. She was appointed to Seanad Éireann in June 2020. Evelyn Francis Parsons was co-opted to Dolan's seat on Galway County Council following her nomination to the Seanad. In October 2024, Dolan was chosen by Fine Gael to contest the 2024 general election for Roscommon–Galway. She was not elected at the 2025 Seanad election. Seanad Éireann
Seanad Éireann ( ; ; "Senate of Ireland") is the senate of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (defined as the house of representatives). It is commonly called the Seanad or Senate and its members senators ( in Irish language, Irish, singular: ). Unlike Dáil Éireann, it is not directly elected but consists of a mixture of members chosen by various methods. The 26th Seanad was in office from 2020 to 2025. The 2020 Seanad election followed the 2020 Irish general election, 2020 general election to the 33rd Dáil on 8 February. The Constitution of Ireland required a general election for Seanad Éireann, the senate of the Oireachtas (Irish parliament), to take place no later than ninety days after the dissolution of the 32nd Dáil on 14 January 2020.
