Air Force Dauntless Expansion Kit
''Air Force Dauntless Expansion Kit'' is a 1978 wargame expansion kit published by Battleline Publications. Gameplay ''Air Force Dauntless Expansion Kit'' is a game in which a large counter sheet is included, along with additional storage trays and order sheets, as well as a rules folder with extra information and more rules. Reception Peter Merritt reviewed ''Air Force Dauntless Expansion Kit'' in ''Perfidious Albion'' #34 (December 1978) and stated that "Quite (gasp) a lot of (pant) extra aircraft (wheeze) really. Now I can do that Arnhem airdrop game, or the defence of Malta (having seen the CR 42, Italy's answer to the kamikaze, I can begin to appreciate how the Gladiators could hold off all comers). I should also like to point out that the 56 gun factors on the He 219 has nothing to do with my immediate resignation from RAF Bomber Command..... Anyway, there are enough types for any air game buff (stand by for letters) and should keep all of my other inmates - sorry, club member ...

Battleline Publications
Battleline Publications was a board wargame company founded by Steven Peek in 1973. Output was relatively low at first, with each game being funded by sales of the one before, but their games were generally well-respected. Several were re-published by Avalon Hill, and their second game, '' Wooden Ships and Iron Men'' designed by S. Craig Taylor is still considered one of the better games on its subject. They also put out a couple games that can be considered card wargames, and at one point became a division of Heritage Models. Perfidious Albion (magazine)
''Perfidious Albion'' was a British board game and wargame magazine, published and edited by Charles Vasey and Geoff Barnard. History In the early 1970s, Charles Vasey, a chartered accountant and wargames hobbyist, began to write reviews of the games that he played for small games magazines such as ''Military Modelling'' and ''Strategy & Tactics''. Vasey and his acquaintance Geoff Barnard, came to believe that other reviews being published at the time were either too deferential to the major game publishers such as SPI, or were written for game designers and publishers, not for the consumers who were buying the games. When the 1975 publication of the popular wargame ''Tobruk'' by Avalon Hill resulted in more shallow reviews, Barnard convinced Vasey that they should create a zine dedicated to in-depth, objective and critical reviews of wargames. The result was ''Perfidious Albion'', a small self-published zine focussed on miniatures and board wargames. It was intermittent in fre ...

Fire & Movement
''Fire & Movement: The Forum of Conflict Simulation'' was a magazine devoted to wargames, both traditional board wargames and computer wargames. It was founded by Rodger MacGowan in 1975, and began publication the following year. In February 1982, Fire & Movement was acquired by Steve Jackson Games. In January 1985 the magazine was sold again to Diverse Talents Inc. (DTI). In 1988, World Wide Wargames (also known as 3W) acquired Diverse Talents Inc. (DTI), publisher of ''Fire & Movement'', '' Battleplan'' and '' Space Gamer'', leading to a complete merger of the two companies. 3W then continued on to publish four gaming magazines simultaneously. John Vanore was the only "outsider" appointed to editorial duties, taking the reins of ''F&M'' at the time. ''F&M'' is now published by Decision Games. In January 2010, the last "print" edition of the magazine was published. Editing and layout had been outsourced to Jon Compton to preserve the independence of the magazine content, but ...

Battleline Publications Games
The line of battle or the battle line is a tactic in naval warfare in which a fleet of ships (known as ships of the line) forms a line end to end. The first example of its use as a tactic is disputed—it has been variously claimed for dates ranging from 1502 to 1652. Line-of-battle tactics were in widespread use by 1675. Compared with prior naval tactics, in which two opposing ships closed on one another for individual combat, the line of battle has the advantage that each ship in the line can fire its broadside without fear of hitting a friendly ship. This means that in a given period, the fleet can fire more shots. Another advantage is that a relative movement of the line in relation to some part of the enemy fleet allows for a systematic concentration of fire on that part. The other fleet can avoid this by manoeuvring in a line itself, with a result typical for sea battles since 1675: two fleets sail alongside one another (or on the opposite tack). Background The first ...
