Aipe River
Aipe is a town and municipality in the Huila Department, Colombia. It is located on the west bank of the Magdalena River in the Central Ranges of the Colombian Andes at altitudes between . Aipe borders Natagaima, Ataco and Planadas of the department of Tolima in the north and west, Villavieja and Tello in the east, and the departmental capital Neiva in the south. History In early 1741, Doña Teresa and Don Enríque Cortés, descendants of Mr. Jacinto Cortés, gave 80 hectares to establish a new town, and are considered the founders of the Aipe. In 1770, the church hierarchy and government in Neiva records the construction of the church of Our Lady of Sorrows. In 1874, Aipe acquired autonomy from Neiva, as a member of the canton district of Villavieja and on 8 April 1912 by Ordinance No. 26, was created as a municipality by the Departmental Assembly. Morrowites
''Morrowites'', named by Cobban and Hook, 1983, is a moderate to large-sized ammonite with quadrangular to depressed whorls, broadly rounded to depressed venter, low ribs, umbilical and inner and outer ventrolateral tubercles and smooth early whorls except for occasional ribs along weak constrictions. The suture is moderately simple and has an unusually broad bifid first lateral lobe. It is so far restricted to the Lower Turonian stage, in the mid Cretaceous. ''Morrowites'' closely resembles ''Mammites'', however ''Morrowites'' has a broad first lateral lobe, ''Mammites'' has a narrow one. The very early whorls of ''Morrowites'' are smooth except for distantly placed ribs and constrictions, those of ''Mammites'' have normal ribs and tubercles. Neoptychites
''Neoptychites'' is an extinct ammonoid cephalopod genus from the Turonian stage of the Upper Cretaceous (around 94 to 89 Ma), with a worldwide distribution. Description Neoptychites includes extremely involute Ammonitida whose outer whorls have a high triangular section with a moderately rounded venter (the outer rim). Tho body chamber in adults is generally smooth, with a constricted aperture. The earliest whorls are smooth except for periodic constrictions; later juvenile whorls have numerous low ribs without tubercles. Taxonomy ''Neoptychites'' belongs to the ammonite family Vascoceratidae and is included in the subfamily Vasoceratinae. The genus was named by Kossmat in 1895. ''Fagesia'' is a small, subglobular ammonite (suborder Ammonitina) belonging to the vascoceratid family of the Acanthocerataceae that lived during the Turonian stage of the Late Cretaceous, 92-88 Ma ago. The shell of ''Fagesia'' is about 9.5 cm (3.47 in) in diameter, typically with blunt umbilical tubercles from which spring 2 or three ribs each, but which are lost in the late growth stage. Ammonoids are a group of extinct marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea of the class Cephalopoda. These molluscs, commonly referred to as ammonites, are more closely related to living coleoids (i.e., octopuses, squid and cuttlefish) than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living ''Nautilus'' species. The Coniacian is an age or stage in the geologic timescale. It is a subdivision of the Late Cretaceous Epoch or Upper Cretaceous Series and spans the time between 89.8 ± 1 Ma and 86.3 ± 0.7 Ma (million years ago). The Cenomanian is, in the ICS' geological timescale, the oldest or earliest age of the Late Cretaceous Epoch or the lowest stage of the Upper Cretaceous Series.
