Ainslie Pryor
James Ainslie Pryor (February 21, 1921 – May 27, 1958) was an American actor. Early years Pryor was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of William E. Prior. He graduated from Christian Brothers College and attended Southwestern and VPI. During World War II, he served with the Merchant Marine. Career Radio Pryor's early entertainment activities came in radio when he worked as an announcer at stations in New Haven, Connecticut, and New York City. He also was program director at WJPR radio in Greenville, Mississippi. Stage Before Pryor acted in films, he performed on stage. He organized a school and community theater while he worked in Greenville. He also managed and directed a little theater group in Raleigh, North Carolina. For three years he acted in ''The Lost Colony'' in Manteo, North Carolina. ''Onionhead'' is a 1958 comedy-drama film set on a U.S. Coast Guard ship during World War II, starring Andy Griffith and featuring Felicia Farr, Walter Matthau, Erin O'Brien, James Gregory, Joey Bishop, and Claude Akins. It was directed by Norman Taurog and was written by Nelson Gidding and Weldon Hill from Hill's novel. ''Weldon Hill'' was the pseudonym of William R. Scott, a native Oklahoman who based the novel on his own World War II service in the Coast Guard. ''Gunsmoke'' is an American radio and television Western drama series created by director Norman Macdonnell and writer John Meston. ''Sugarfoot'' is an American Western television series that aired for 69 episodes on ABC from 1957-1961 on Tuesday nights on a "shared" slot basis – rotating with ''Cheyenne'' (first season); ''Cheyenne'' and '' Bronco'' (second season); and ''Bronco'' (third season). The Warner Bros. production stars Will Hutchins as Tom Brewster, an Easterner who comes to the Oklahoma Territory to become a lawyer. Brewster was a correspondence-school student whose apparent lack of cowboy skills earned him the nickname "Sugarfoot", a designation even below that of a tenderfoot. Radio Created by Goodman Ace for CBS Radio, it blended history with modern technology, taking an entire network newsroom on a figurative time warp each week reporting the great events of the past. ''Front Row Center'' is an American variety show that aired on the DuMont Television Network Sundays at 7pm ET from March 25, 1949, to April 2, 1950. The show was originally 30 minutes then expanded to 60 minutes. This was one of several DuMont network programs to start as a local show on one of its affiliates. The premiere episode featured Marilyn Maxwell in her TV debut. On April 9, 1950, DuMont replaced this show with ''Starlit Time'' in the same time slot. The series presented both comedy and drama in original teleplays, as well as abridged adaptations of films and plays. Overview The ''Lux Video Theatre'' was a spin-off from the successful '' Lux Radio Theater'' series broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934–1935) and CBS (1935–1955). ''Lux Video Theatre'' began as a live 30-minute Monday evening CBS series on October 2, 1950, switching to Thursday nights during August, 1951.
