Aigul Akhmetshina
Aigul Akhmetshina is a Russian operatic mezzo-soprano. Early life and education Akhmetshina was born in 1996 in the village of Kirgiz-Miyaki in the Republic of Bashkortostan in the Russian Federation. In 2016 she graduated from Ufa State Institute of Arts. Though a Russian citizen, she stated in an interview with ''The Times'' in 2024 that "I'm not Russian", and expressed a desire to become a British citizen. Her family were amateur singers and encouraged her talent. After being refused the opportunity to study music at a Moscow university, she gained a place on the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House in London. Career On New Year's Eve 2023, Akhmetshina appeared in the title role in ''Carmen'' at the Metropolitan Opera. Aigul Japarova (Kyrgyz language, Kyrgyz: Айгүл Жапарова, née Asanbaeva), as the wife of President Sadyr Japarov, is the incumbent First Lady of Kyrgyzstan and she is around five to six years his junior. Biography She was born in a village in the Tüp District on 14 November 1973. She studied at a medical school, then received a higher education at the Arabaev Kyrgyz State University. Asanbayeva lived with her children abroad for three years during her husband's exile, mainly in Poland and Russia. In an interview, she claimed that she turned to President Almazbek Atambayev's wife, Raisa Atambayeva, Raisa, for help, when her husband and son were detained by the security forces at the Kyrgyz border. Aygül Jeenbekova (; (Токоева); born 1968) was the first lady of Kyrgyzstan from 2017 to 2020 as the wife of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Biography Jeenbekova was born and raised in the village of Birinchi Kara-Kulja District of the Soviet Union's Osh Region.
