Aigars Apinis (born 9 June 1973) is a Latvian athlete. He participates in F52 class which means he has limited finger movement and no trunk or leg function. On July 3, 1992, he suffered a severe cervical vertebrae injury while jumping into the water. He started to practice in 1998, but already at the 2000 Summer Paralympics he won two bronze medals – in discus throw and shot put. At the 2004 Summer Paralympics he became the Olympic champion in discus throw and was 4th in shot put. Aigars Cipruss (born 12 January 1972) is a Latvian professional ice hockey player currently playing for HK Ozolnieki/Monarhs hockey club. Until then he played for Dinamo Riga of the Kontinental Hockey League, and served as manager for this team and was coach in its farm club. Playing career A veteran centre, Cipruss last season played in Italy, regularly represented Latvia internationally till 2006th as well. Although he has played in the North American leagues, he has never been drafted by an NHL team. Aigars Fadejevs (27 December 1975 – 17 December 2024) was a Latvian athlete, competing in 20 km, 50 km walk, and marathon running, and a physiotherapist for sprinters and other athletes. He won a silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the 50 km race walk, and was named the Latvian Sportsperson of the Year in 2000. Aigars Kalvītis (born 27 June 1966) is a Latvian businessman and a former politician who was the Prime Minister of Latvia from 2004 to 2007. Currently he is the president of Latvian Ice Hockey Federation and the Chairman of the Board of Latvian gas company Latvijas Gāze. Aigars Kriķis (28 August 1954 in Riga – 15 February 1999), also known as Aygars Krikis (), was a Latvian Soviet luger who competed during the late 1970s. Early life and career Born in Riga, Latvia. He started his career at the age of 14. Kriķis was a triple USSR Champion in Men's Doubles from 1973 to 1975. With writing at the time (usage of typewriters) his name Aigars was sometimes misspelled as Algars. He and Dainis Bremze won the gold medal at the men's doubles event at the 1978 FIL World Luge Championships in Imst, Austria.
