Aidan (singer)
Aidan Cassar (born 17 December 1999), known professionally as Aidan, is a Maltese singer and songwriter. Career In 2018 he competed in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with Dai Laga. Following reports that the song, originally described as an original composition, had used a publicly available production beat and could have potentially violated Eurovision rules, it was revamped and re-released. The song placed fourth in the contest. Afterwards, he participated in the '' X Factor Malta''. In 2019 he represented Malta in the OGAE Song Contest 2019 with the song "The Feeling". His single " Naħseb Fik" has been compared with " Tick Tock" by Clean Bandit and Mabel and was said to have a similar cord progression. He denied the beat and melody were plagiarised. The song was entered in the Mużika Mużika competition in 2021, it was the first time he has written a song in Maltese and performed in Maltese. Żejtun
Żejtun ( mt, Iż-Żejtun ) is a city in the South Eastern Region of Malta, with a population of 11,218 at end 2016. Żejtun is traditionally known as Città Beland, a title conferred by the grandmaster of the Order of the Knights of Malta, Ferdinand von Hompesch zu Bolheim in 1797. Before that, the village was known as Casale Santa Caterina, named after its patron saint and parish titular. The old urban cores, called Bisqallin and Ħal Bisbut, largely retain their narrow medieval streets and ancient boundaries. Since at least the 19th century, the name Żejtun, or Casale Zeitoun, has referred to the settlement which developed around these two core villages. Malta In The Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Malta participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. The Maltese entry for the 2023 contest was performed by the band the Busker, who won the national final ''Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023'' with their song " Dance (Our Own Party)", organised by the Maltese broadcaster Public Broadcasting Services (PBS). The competition consisted of three quarter-finals, a semi-final and a final, held in January and February 2023. Malta was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 9 May 2023. Performing during the show in position 2, "Dance (Our Own Party)" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. "Rip (Rest in Peace)" (stylised in all uppercase) is a song by Maltese singers Aidan and Ira Losco released on 1 January 2023. The song was produced by Boban Apostolov and peaked at number one on Malta's singles charts. Background and release Aidan marked his 23rd birthday by announcing a new single with Ira Losco on 17 December 2023. He stated that he was "honoured to be starting the new year with a new single with one of isfavourite local stars" and that they had been working on the single since mid-summer.
