Ahmed Moor
Ahmed Moor (born in the Gaza Strip c. 1985) is a Palestinian-American writer, finance expert, and a founder of liwwa, Inc. He co-edited the book ''After Zionism: One State for Israel and Palestine'' which was published by Saqi Books in 2012. Early life and education Moor was born in the Rafah refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. In regards to living in Palestine, Moor wrote in a September 2009 ''Electronic Intifada'' article that the "occupation looms large over everything in Palestine" and armed men "patrol your neighborhoods, detain your family and neighbors and dictate exactly when you can leave your house. ... Tzedek Chicago is a progressive synagogue in Chicago. It is one of the first synagogues in the United States to officially declare itself anti-Zionist. History Tzedek Chicago was founded in 2015 in Lincoln Square by the former Reconstructionist Rabbi Brant Rosen as a non-Zionist synagogue. The synagogue is dedicated to social justice, universalism, and anti-racism. Many members are Millennials who feel unrepresented elsewhere in the Jewish community. Brant Rosen (born February 22, 1963) is an American rabbi and blogger, known for his pro-Palestinian activism. Biography Rosen is a native of Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. Career and activism Rosen is the rabbi of Tzedek Chicago, an anti-Zionist synagogue he founded in August 2015. Rosen previously served as the rabbi of the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston, Illinois from 1998 to 2014, when he resigned, citing increasing tension over his Palestine solidarity activism.
