Ahmed Al-Rahawi
Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi () is a Yemeni politician who is the current prime minister of the Houthi-led government serving since 10 August 2024. He is a member of the General People's Congress party and has previously served on the Supreme Political Council. Biography Al-Rahawi is from Khanfar, Abyan Governorate, Yemen, and is a member of the Al-Rahawi tribe. His father, Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi, was a political figure who was assassinated in the 1970s. Al-Rahawi became active in politics himself, serving several high-level local positions from 2000 to 2015 including director general and chairman of the Local Council of Khanfar District, Deputy Governor of Al Mahwit Governorate and Deputy Governor of Abyan Governorate. The prime minister of the Republic of Yemen is the head of government of Yemen. Under the Constitution of Yemen, the prime minister is appointed by the president, and must, like his cabinet, enjoy confidence from the House of Representatives. Abyan Governorate
Abyan ( ) is a governorates of Yemen, governorate of Yemen. The Abyan region was historically part of the Fadhli Sultanate. It was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army militant group. Its Capital (political), capital is the city of Zinjibar. This governorate is noted for its agriculture, in particular the cultivation of Phoenix dactylifera, date palms and animal husbandry. On 31 March 2011, ''Al Bawaba'' reported that Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) had declared Abyan an "Al-Qaeda Emirate in Yemen" after seizing control of the region. The Saba News Agency (), also known as the Yemen News Agency (), is the official state news agency of Yemen. History and profile SABA was founded on 16 November 1970 as the official news agency of North Yemen, and is headquartered in the capital Sana'a. On 22 May 1990, the agency was merged with the Aden News Agency (ANA) of South Yemen to create the Yemen News Agency Saba. The agency provides news on the Middle East and region. Khanfar, Abyan
Khanfar () is a district that is a southern the Abyan Governorate of south-western Yemen. It is said to be inhabited by Yafa peoples. History The business minded British had an influence in the 19th and 20th century in development with the Khanfar Development Board being financed by British loans. The British overlooked the construction of irrigation works and in 1947 the Khanfar scheme was reorganized as the Abyan Development Board, financed by credits of £170,000. Khanfar was noted for its ceramics, particularly its Rasulid glazed mustard wares. In the mid 1980s, the Soviets built an ammunitions factory in Khanfar, for the manufacture of light weapons and Kalashnikov rifles.
