Ahmad Kamal Abdullah
Ahmad Kamal Abdullah (30 January 1941 – 27 October 2021) was a Malaysian poet, novelist, playwright, literary critic and Malaysian National Laureate (2011). He was known under the pseudonym Kemala. Biography His father, Abdullah Hj. Daud was an alumnus of the Kuala Kangsar Malay College in which its admission was restricted to children of the elite class, while his paternal grandfather was influential in the village as its main religious teacher and imam. His mother, Rukiah Amir, on the other hand was a well-versed storyteller and poet. From 1958 to 1962, Kemala studied at Sultan Idris Teacher's College (''Maktab Perguruan Sultan Idris'', now the Sultan Idris Education University) in Tanjung Malim. He left the field of teaching in 1968 to work as the Chief Editor for the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka leading several of its magazine publishings. Malay College Kuala Kangsar
The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (abbreviated MCKK; ; ) is a premier residential school in Malaysia. It is an elite all-boys and all- Malay school in the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, Perak. It is sometimes dubbed "the Eton College of the East". The Malay College Kuala Kangsar was awarded the Cluster School of Excellence title by the Ministry of Education (Malaysia). Since 2010, the school was awarded with the Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi or High Performance School title, a title awarded to Malaysian top schools that have met stringent criteria including academic achievement, strength of alumni, international recognition, network and linkages. Hamzah Fansuri
Hamzah Fansuri ( Jawi: حمزه فنسوري ; also spelled Hamzah Pansuri, d. 1590 ?) was a 16th-century Sumatran Sufi writer, and the first writer known to write mystical panentheistic ideas in the Malay language. He wrote poetry as well as prose. Life Information on Hamzah's life comes largely from the '' takhallus bait'' (pen-name stanza) that ends his poetry ('' syair''), as well as from the work of his disciple Hasan Fansuri and commentaries on Hamzah's poems. However, many of his biographical details are uncertain. His name indicates that he may be from Barus (also known as Fansur to the Arabs), or have spent a large part of his life there. New Straits Times
The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. It is Malaysia's oldest newspaper still in print (though not the first), having been founded as ''The Straits Times'' on 15 July 1845. It was relaunched as the ''New Straits Times'' on 13 August 1974. The paper served as Malaysia's only broadsheet format English-language newspaper.
