Agyriales
The Agyriales are an order of fungi in the class Lecanoromycetes. It contains the following families: Agyriaceae,Anamylopsoraceae and Schaereriaceae. Many of these fungi form lichens. In 2001, rRNA gene sequences of ''Anamylopsora pulcherrima'' (Anamylopsoraceae), ''Placopsis gelida'', ''Trapelia involuta'' and ''Trapelia placodioides'' (Agyriaceae) showed that the Agyriineae family was outside the Lecanorales order (where it had been placed) and the study suggested a sister group relationship to Ostropales/Pertusariales orders. Anamylopsoraceae
The Baeomycetales are an order of mostly lichen-forming fungi in the subclass Ostropomycetidae, in the class Lecanoromycetes. It contains 8 families, 33 genera and about 170 species. As a result of molecular phylogenetics research published in the late 2010s, several orders were folded into the Baeomycetales, resulting in a substantial increase in the number of taxa. Taxonomy The family Baeomycetaceae was originally proposed by Barthélemy Charles Joseph Dumortier in 1829 (under the spelling ''Baeomyceae''); he included two genera, ''Baeomyces'' and ''Calicium''. Baeomycetaceae was initially classified in the Lecanorales, and Baeomycetaceae and Cladoniaceae were thought to be closely related, sharing a phylogenetic origin in Lecideaceae. Frederic Edward Clements (September 16, 1874 – July 26, 1945) was an American plant ecologist and pioneer in the study of plant ecology and vegetation succession. Biography Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he studied botany at the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1894 and obtaining a doctorate in 1898. One of his teachers was botanist Charles Bessey, who inspired Clements to research topics such as microscopy, plant physiology, and laboratory experimentation. Order ( la, ordo) is one of the eight major hierarchical taxonomic ranks in Linnaean taxonomy. It is classified between family and class. In biological classification, the order is a taxonomic rank used in the classification of organisms and recognized by the nomenclature codes. An immediately higher rank, superorder, is sometimes added directly above order, with suborder directly beneath order. An order can also be defined as a group of related families. What does and does not belong to each order is determined by a taxonomist, as is whether a particular order should be recognized at all. ''Schaereria'' is a genus of lichen-forming fungi. It is the sole genus in the family Schaereriaceae, which itself is the only family in the Schaereriales, an order in the subclass Ostropomycetidae of the class Lecanoromycetes. Taxonomy The genus name of ''Schaereria'' is in honour of Ludwig Emanuel Schaerer (1785–1853), who was a Swiss pastor and lichenologist. Genus ''Schaereria'' was circumscribed by German lichenologist Gustav Wilhelm Körber in 1855, with ''Schaereria lugubris'' assigned as the type species.
