Agua Prieta
Agua Prieta ("dark water") is a town in the Agua Prieta Municipality in the northeastern corner of the Mexican state of Sonora. It stands on the Mexico–U.S. border, adjacent to the town of Douglas, Arizona, Douglas, Arizona. The municipality covers an area of 3,631.65 km2 (1,402.2 sq mi). In the 2010 census, the town had a population of 79,138 people, making it the seventh-largest community in the state, with a literacy rate of 96.3%. The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Luis Rivera (athlete)
Luis Alberto Rivera Morales (born 21 June 1987 in Agua Prieta) is a Mexican long jumper. He won a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships and a gold medal at the 2013 Summer Universiade. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. His personal best is 8.46 metres, achieved in July 2013. His brother, Edgar Rivera, competes in the high jump. Early life A native of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Rivera was oldest of four children born to Luis Rivera Pompa and Alejandra Morales. His father had excelled in athletics while his maternal grandfather, León Morales Amézquita, was a marathon runner and played professional football for Unión de Curtidores. Rivera played football before he began practicing the long jump at the age of 17. He attended Central Arizona College, where he learned English. Los Apson
Los Apson is a former Mexican rock-n-roll band, best known in the 1960s for their Spanish language cover versions of famous songs. History The band was formed in 1957 by Arturo Durazo, a guitarist and a rock-n-roll enthusiast, with his brother Francisco “Pancho” Durazo. Both of them had a relatively easy access to popular English hits of the time as they lived in the border town of Agua Prieta, Sonora. Originally named Los Apson Boys, they quickly shortened it to Los Apson, the band's name came from the first letters of the town, and the first three from the state.
