Agboluaje (Oyo Ruler)
Oladipo Agboluaje (born 1968) is a British-Nigerian playwright. He was born in Hackney and educated in Britain and Nigeria, studying theatre arts at the University of Benin. He later wrote a doctoral thesis at the Open University on West and South African drama. Oladipo has taught at several universities including Goldsmiths, University of London, City University, London Met University, and the University of Greenwich. He is the course director of the Black British Theatre and Performance programme at the British American Drama Academy (BADA) in London. Oladipo has served on the boards of Oval House (now Brixton House) and Soho Theatre. He was the 2019 writer in residence of the National Theatre, London. He is also the treasurer of the African Theatre Association, and a member of the editorial board of their journal, African Performance Review. The London Borough of Hackney ( ) is a London boroughs, London borough in Inner London, England. The historical and administrative heart of Hackney is Mare Street, which lies north-east of Charing Cross. The borough is named after Hackney, London, Hackney, its principal district. Southern and eastern parts of the borough are popularly regarded as being part of east London that spans some of the traditional East End of London with the northwest belonging to north London. Its population is estimated to be 281,120. Elizabeth Laird (author)
Elizabeth Laird (born 1943) is a British writer of children's fiction and travel. She is also known for the large body of folktales which she collected from the regions of Ethiopia. Her books have been translated into at least twenty languages. Biography Laird was born in New Zealand in 1943. She was the fourth child of her Scottish father and New Zealand mother. The family settled in Purley, near London in 1945. A fifth child was born in 1947. He suffered severe disabilities and died in 1949. Laird's first children's novel, '' Red Sky in the Morning'' (Heinemann, 1988), was inspired in some measure by her brother's life. Laird has been a judge of the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction since its inception in 2010. Laird has received several awards for her work, and has been shortlisted six times for the Carnegie Medal for British children's literature.
