Agata Kornhauser-Duda (born 2 April 1972) is First Lady of Poland since 2015 as the wife of president of Poland, Andrzej Duda. Background and family Kornhauser was born in Kraków, the child of Julian Kornhauser, a Polish people, Polish writer, translator and literary critic of Jews, Jewish descent, and Alicja Wojna, a Polonistics, Polish philologist. She has one brother, Jakub, a poet and translator. She has been married to Andrzej Duda since 21 December 1994. Together they have one daughter. Professional career She is a teacher at the Jan III Sobieski High School, Kraków, where she has worked since 1998. She has been described as a demanding but fair and dedicated teacher, and during the presidential campaign only took one day off, vowing to stay with her students until the end of the school year. Bronisław Maria Komorowski (; born 4 June 1952) is a Polish politician and historian who was the fifth president of Poland from 2010 to 2015. Komorowski previously served as Ministry of National Defence (Poland), Minister of National Defence from 2000 to 2001. Presidential elections were held in Poland on 10 and 24 May 2015. In the first round of voting Law and Justice (Poland), Law and Justice (PiS) candidate, lawyer and Member of the European Parliament, Andrzej Duda received the highest number of votes with a share of 34.76%, followed by the incumbent president Bronisław Komorowski (with 33.77%), who ran as an independent with the endorsement of the Civic Platform (PO), whose membership he had renounced after winning the 2010 elections. Independent candidate Paweł Kukiz came in third with 20.80% of the votes.
