''Aganthukaya'' ( si, ආගන්තුකයා; English: ''The Outcast'') is a 2007 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama film directed by Vasantha Obeysekera and produced by Anura Abeysekara for A.G.A Films with the funds of National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka. It stars Saumya Liyanage and Chandani Seneviratne in lead roles along with Sanath Gunathilake and Giriraj Kaushalya. Music composed by Rohana Weerasinghe. This is the last film directed by Vasantha Obeysekara. It is the 1087th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. The film has been shot in Kurunegala, for tireless seventeen days. The film has received mostly positive reviews from critics. Plot The story revolves around a school principal who was transferred to a national school in a far flung area as a political punishment. Vasantha Obeysekera
Vasantha Obeysekera (1937 – 2017), was a Sri Lankan film director and screenwriter. Early life and career Kala Keerthi Vasantha Obeysekera who was regarded as one of the foremost film makers in the 70s decade graduated from the University of Ceylon in 1962. He served on the Editorial Staff of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited from 1964 to 1970. In addition to his editorial work, Obeysekera wrote several short stories during this period. Obeysekera entered the film industry with ''Sath Samudura'' in 1967 which he co-wrote and worked on as assistant director; it was Sri Lanka's entry at the Moscow International Film Festival. DR. Rohana Weerasinghe (born February 18, 1949), is a Sri Lankan musician, composer and singer. Early life Weerasinghe was born on 18 February 1949 in Algiriya, Matara in southern Sri Lanka. He was the youngest child to his parents Henry Weerasinghe and Sepalin Weerasinghe. In 1954, Weerasinghe started schooling from Good Shepard Family Convent in Nuwara Eliya, and later moved to Vidyachakra Buddhist School Ruwan Eliya, Welimada Maha Vidyalaya, Pannipitya Dharmapala Vidyalaya and Gamini Maha Vidyalaya Nuwara Eliya.
