Agama Yoga
Agama Yoga is a yoga school founded by Swami Vivekananda Saraswati, a Romanian yoga instructor born as Narcis Tarcău. The school is located on the island of Koh Pha Ngan in Thailand. In 2018, Agama also had centers in India, Colombia and Austria. Narcis Tarcău was, since 1981, part of MISA, a Romanian yoga school founded by Gregorian Bivolaru and he founded NATHA, the MISA branch in Denmark. He was a student and instructor at the MISA Yoga School until 1998. He lived in India for 4 years, until 2002. Tarcău founded Agama after he left India. In 2018, Narcis Tarcău was accused by at least 14 yoga students of sexual assault and rape. Gregorian Bivolaru
Gregorian Bivolaru also known as Magnus AurolssonSources for 'Magnus Aurolsson': and nicknamed Grieg, Grig or, by the press, Guru (born 12 March 1952) is a Romanian tantric yoga guru, and the founder of the Movement for Spiritual Integration into the Absolute (MISA). At the age of 18 he began teaching yoga, an activity deprecated by Romania's communist regime. He was twice jailed and once forcibly hospitalized in a psychiatric ward under the regime, which ended in 1989. In 2005 he was charged on counts of sexual exploitation, tax evasion, and crossing the border to escape prosecution; he sought asylum in Sweden, which he was granted in 2006. In 2008 he was expelled from the European Yoga Council. His trial in Romania for human trafficking was postponed many times; charges in another trial were dropped. ''(Un)well'' is an American documentary series about the wellness industry. The series was produced by Left/Right Productions and premiered on August 12, 2020, on Netflix. Reviewers point out the episodes tend to give more weight to enthusiastic testimonials than to expert advice, painting a positive picture of treatments that are often ineffective or dangerous. Summary Through interviews with practitioners, consumers and experts, the series questions the efficacy and safety of six treatments offered by the " wellness" industry. Presented without a narrator, the audience is left to make up their own minds about the information presented. Episodes Reception Reviewers give credit to the series for exposing some of the worst abuse of the wellness industry. Sexual Abuse By Yoga Gurus
Sexual abuse by yoga gurus is the exploitation of the position of trust occupied by a master of any branch of yoga for personal sexual pleasure. Allegations of such abuse have been made against modern yoga gurus such as Bikram Choudhury, Kausthub Desikachar, Yogi Bhajan, Amrit Desai, and K. Pattabhi Jois. There have been some criminal convictions and lawsuits for civil damages.
