Agam (band)
Agam () is an Indian Carnatic progressive rock band based in Bangalore, Karnataka, formed in the year 2003. The band is renowned for its unique fusion of Carnatic music with progressive rock elements. Agam gained significant commercial recognition with the release of ''Malhar Jam'', which was featured on '' MTV's Coke Studio'' and included in their debut album, ''The Inner Self Awakens (2012).'' Over the years, the band's subsequent career has included extensive touring, collaborations with notable artists within the Indian music scene, and contributions to film music compositions. Harish Sivaramakrishnan
Harish Sivaramakrishnan is an Indian playback singer who works in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He is also the lead vocalist of the Bangalore-based popular Carnatic progressive rock band Agam. Personal life Harish was born and brought up at Shoranur in Palakkad, Kerala. He is a chemical engineering graduate from BITS Pilani. Career Harish Sivaramakrishnan is the lead vocalist and one of the founder members of the band Agam. He is also a playback singer working in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil languages. Apart from his musical career, he is also working as the Chief Design Officer at CRED, after working for over a decade in Adobe and Google. In 2016, composer Leon James introduced Harish to singing in Tamil cinema, and Harish sang "Unnai Matrinaal" for the former's film '' Ko 2''. Pakhavaj
The ''pakhavaj'' is a barrel-shaped, two-headed drum, originating from the Indian subcontinent, kendang of Maritime Southeast Asia and other South Asian double-headed drums. Its older forms were made with clay. It is the percussion instrument most commonly used in the dhrupad style of Indian classical music and less often used as a rhythm accompaniment for various other sub-forms of music and dance performances (e.g. kathak, odissi, marathi). It has a low, mellow tone that is quite rich in harmonics. The sides of the pakhawaj are made with animal skin (often goat skin). The pakhavaj players place the instrument horizontally in front of themselves as they sit on the floor with legs crossed. The players may sometimes place a cushion under the narrower treble face to lift it slightly. A right-handed person places the larger bass-skin on the left side and the treble skin on the right.
