Afzal Tahir
Admiral (Pakistan), Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir ( ur, ; b. 4 January 1949) was a Pakistan Navy officer, writer, and the military historian currently serving in the faculty at the Pakistan Navy War College, Naval War College of Pakistan Navy. Admiral Tahir tenured as the Chief of Naval Staff (Pakistan), Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of Pakistan Navy from 7 October 2005 until retiring from his military service on 7 October 2008. Upon the announcement to the four-star appointment in 2005, he superseded Vice-Admiral Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon, Mohammad Haroon who continued to serve under him as Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Vice-Chief of Naval Staff and was succeeded by newly appointed Admiral Noman Bashir in October 2008. The Order of King Abdulaziz is a Saudi Arabian order of merit. The order was named after Abdulaziz Al Saud, founder of the modern Saudi state.
