2025 Giro D'Italia
The 2025 Giro d'Italia was the 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia, a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race. The race started on 9 May in Durrës, Albania and finished on 1 June in Rome. There were two individual time trial stages and three stages longer than 200km. The general classification was won by the British Simon Yates of Team Visma–Lease a Bike, who completed the race in 82h31'01" at an average speed of 41.728 km/h for his first Giro victory. Yates claimed the leader's pink jersey for the first time on the penultimate stage by outdistancing the Mexican Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates) on the Colle delle Finestre, after the latter had held the race lead since stage 9; del Toro retained second place in the general classification and won the young rider classification as well as the 17th stage. Volta A Portugal
The Volta a Portugal (), also known as Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta (), is an annual multi-stage road bicycle racing competition held in Portugal. The competition takes place during a two-week span. History The competition started in 1927, although its second edition only occurred in 1931. In 1936 and 1937 the tour did not take place. During World War II the race was cancelled between 1942 and 1945. In 1975 the competition was skipped due to the Carnation Revolution. In the period 1940–1980 the competition was staged over three weeks. Since the 1980s it was reduced to the period of two weeks. As of 2005 the race consisted only of ten stages. In the last years the race consisted of ten stages and a prologue (a short time trial that starts the race). It is still the longest competition in cycling after the three grand Tours.
