Adrian Cush
Adrian Cush (born 12 June 1970) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Donaghmore St Patrick's GAC, Donaghmore St Patrick's club and the Tyrone county football team, Tyrone county team. He was part of the panel that played in Tyrone's second ever All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, All-Ireland Final in 1995, and experienced success on the underage scene. As his career took him to London, he had to stutter his playing for Tyrone, despite being at the top of his game. His is considered one of unfulfilled careers of Tyrone GAA. An article from 1992, predicting that Cush, at the time a 21-year-old, would be part of a hugely successful Tyrone team. This was on the eve of the 1992 National Football League (Ireland), National Football League Final. Also known as Cushy the king. Donaghmore St Patrick's GAC
Donaghmore St Patrick's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Donaghmore in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. They play in blue and gold colours. History Foundation and early years Donaghmore Éire Óg was formed on 26 December 1903 by a group led by Cathal O'Toole, the first Gaelic Football Club in the parish of Donaghmore, influenced by the nearby Dungannon Emmetts. O'Toole was appointed President and Captain, with John O'Neill (Drumbearn) as Vice-President and Vice Captain. Edward Carberry became Treasurer, and William Cunningham Secretary, while the first committee consisted of James McCann, John O'Neill (Donaghmore), Joe Carberry, Joseph Daly, Joseph Brannigan and Henry Daly. The name Éire Óg (Young Ireland) was chosen by O'Toole, a frequent contributor to the weekly Young Ireland column of the ''Ulster Herald'' newspaper. Tyrone County Football Team
The Tyrone county football team () represents Tyrone GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of football. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Tyrone's home ground is Healy Park, Omagh. The team's managers are Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. The National Football League (NFL; ga, Sraith Náisiúnta Peile) is an annual Gaelic football competition between the senior county teams of Ireland plus London. Sponsored by Allianz, it is officially known as the Allianz National Football League. The Gaelic Athletic Association organises the league. The winning team receives the New Ireland Cup, presented by the New Ireland Assurance Company.
