Adrian Charles
Adrian Owen Charles (31 July 1926 – 10 April 2013) was an Australian Anglican bishop, who served as Assistant bishop for the Western Region in the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane from 1983 to 1992, and as Bishop to the Australian Defence Force from 1989 to 1994. Charles was born in Warwick, Queensland on 31 July 1926. He attended St Catherine's School and Slade School in Warwick, and later studied at St Francis' Theological College and the University of Queensland. He was ordained deacon in 1950 and priest in 1952. In his parish ministry, Charles served in a variety of roles, including as chaplain to the Southport School, as Vicar at Wondai and St Lucia and Ipswich, and as Senior Anglican Chaplain to the Northern Command from 1963 to 1966. The Anglican Diocese of Brisbane, also known as Anglican Church Southern Queensland, is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The diocesan bishop's seat is at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane. The diocese stretches from the south-eastern coastline of Queensland, down to the New South Wales border and west to the Northern Territory and South Australian borders. The Diocese of North Queensland is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia, founded in 1879. It is situated in the northern part of the state of Queensland, Australia. As part of the Province of Queensland, it covers the Torres Strait Islands in the north, the entire Cape York Peninsula and the cities of Mount Isa, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay. Brian King (bishop)
Brian Franklin Vernon King (3 January 1938 – 22 November 2006) was an assistant bishop in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, and concurrently Bishop to the Australian Defence Force. King was educated at Sydney Boys' High School and the University of New South Wales. King was a passionate Rugby player, playing 112 first-grade games and was a member of two premiership-winning teams. He was selected for the Waratahs, scoring two tries, and played against New Zealand, Fiji and Queensland. He worked as a chartered accountant for eight years before pursuing theological studies. After studying at Moore Theological College he was ordained in 1965. He was a curate at Manly and then rector of Dural. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The Monarch of Australia is sovereign head of the order, while the Governor-General of Australia is the principal companion/dame/knight (as relevant at the time) and chancellor of the order.
