Adolph Julius Eggers
Adolph Julius Eggers (23 January 1859 – 16 December 1919) was a Danish organist, guitarist and composer. Life and career Eggers was an organ pupil of Peter Schram, Gottfred Matthison-Hansen, P. Rasmussen and A. Rüdinger. In 1880 he became organ substitute in Trinity Church. In 1905 he was cantor at Sankt Matthæus Church in Copenhagen, where he succeeded Johan Bartholdy, and in 1910 at Holmens Church, where he succeeded Viggo Bielefeldt. Holmen Church
The Holmen Church ( da, Holmens Kirke) is a Parish church in central Copenhagen in Denmark, on the street called Holmens Kanal. First built as an anchor forge in 1563, it was converted into a naval church by Christian IV. It is famous for having hosted the wedding between Margrethe II of Denmark, current queen of Denmark, and Prince Henrik in 1967. It is the burial site of such notabilities as naval heroes Niels Juel and Peter Tordenskjold, and composer Niels Wilhelm Gade, and contains artwork by, among others, Bertel Thorvaldsen and Karel van Mander. The church building The appearance of the Holmen Church today closely resembles that of the renovation in 1872, except for the colour. The windows are in clear glass and predominantly set in iron. Conrad Johan Bartholdy (12 March 1853 – 6 December 1904) was a Danish organist, composer, singing teacher, conductor and author of music theory books. He was honored as a Titular Professor for the year 1900. Bartholdy was born in Hammel, the son of the local pharmacist and was active as a student in Århus Cathedral from 1872. He began after school to study political science, but interrupted his studies to get a musical education.
