Adobe Media Player
Adobe Media Player was a desktop media player that allowed users to manage and interact with their media content, and allowed content publishers to define branding and advertising in and around their content. The Adobe Media Player was one of the first Adobe AIR applications from Adobe Systems. It was announced at NAB show in Las Vegas and was released in April 2008. It used DRM and enforces advertisement viewing, when watching videos both online and offline. The player was designed to allow users to subscribe to webcasts from various providers to be either streamed or download for viewing offline. Open Source Media Framework (OSMF) is a deprecated free and open-source development framework for building video experiences on the web and desktop. OSMF is a pure ActionScript 3.0based framework and is created by Adobe Systems. According to the OSMF website, the framework is designed for content publishers, developers, and Adobe Flash platform ecosystem partners. It is aimed at anyone who is incorporating video on their website. Furthermore, OSMF provides support for multiple media types including video, audio, images, and SWF files. The program supports plug-ins that enable additional features from third-party services, such as advertising insertion, rendering, tracking, reporting for analytics, and content delivery network (CDN) authentication. Joost
Joost () was an Internet TV service, created by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis (founders of Skype and Kazaa). During 2007–2008 Joost used peer-to-peer TV ( P2PTV) technology to distribute content to their Mozilla-based desktop player; in late 2008 this was migrated to use a Flash-based Web player instead. Joost began development in 2006. Working under the code name "The Venice Project", Zennström and Friis assembled teams of some 150 software developers in about six cities around the world, including New York City, London, Leiden and Toulouse.
