Adelaida Martínez Aguilar
Adelaida Martínez Aguilar (16 December 1870 — ?) was a Mexicans, Mexican teacher, writer, and poet active in the Tepic Territory from the 1860s until her death. In her 1910 book ''Mujeres Notables Mexicanas'', Laureana Wright de Kleinhans wrote a short biography of Aguilar and provided one of her poems written for a local newspaper under alias. Biography Adelaida Martínez Aguilar was born in Santiago Ixcuintla, to Colonel Agatón Martinez and Adelaide Aguilar. Aguilar was orphaned at age three when her mother died and father left for work, thus entering the care of her stepmother, Lugarda Sandoval. Sandoval was no teacher herself, so Aguilar was sent to study at Rosa Navarro's school in Guadalajara, Jalisco province, where she would spend six years studying and graduated in 1886 and herself became a teacher. Santiago Ixcuintla
Santiago de Ixcuintla is a municipality and a municipal seat in the western Mexico, Mexican state of Nayarit. The municipal population was 93,981 inhabitants (census of 2020) with the municipal seat having a population of 25,241. The area of the municipality was 1,831.92 square kilometers. It is located at 21º48'40" N and 105º12'23" W. The most important population centers are the municipal seat, Santiago Ixcuintla, with 18,169 inhabitants; Villa Hidalgo with 11,175, La Presa with 3,932, Yago with 3,919, Pozo de Ibarra with 3,342 and Villa Juárez with 3,158. Tepic
Tepic () is the capital and largest city of the western Mexico, Mexican Political divisions of Mexico, state of Nayarit, as well as the seat of the Tepic Municipality. Located in the central part of the state, it stands at an altitude of above sea level, on the banks of the Río Mololoa and the Río Tepic, approximately north-west of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Laureana Wright De Kleinhans
Laureana Wright de Kleinhans (4 July 1846 – 22 September 1896), or simply known as Laurena was a Mexican writer and feminist pioneer. Her writings on the role of women, were revolutionary for her time. Her magazine, ''Violets of Anahuac'' in 1887, changed the paradigm by promoting as the core ideology of the magazine, the feminine ideal of a cultured, educated wife and mother. The publication promoted female education and insisted that the intellectual equality between men and women was the means of emancipation. She was one of the first feminist theorists in Mexico, asking women to question their role in society and the conditions in which they lived. She covered topics such as education, women's suffrage and legal equality between men and women. She wrote patriotic poetry and served as the vice president of the Spiritualist Society of Mexico, which she joined because one of its principles held that men and women were of equal intelligence. Rosa Navarro
Rosa Navarro Barandica (born 23 March 1955, Barranquilla), is a Colombian photographer and mixed-media artist. Career The daughter of Carlos Navarro Orozco and Rosa María Barandica, Rosa Navarro was exposed to the arts since her birth as her mother was an artist who worked with several mediums. At an early age, Navarro began to learn and draw the human body on the wet sand which was in her home's patio. She also utilized wood, box cartons and clay, where she would get it from her father's ''ladrilleria'' (brick gallery). Navarro began creating work in the 1980s that explored the semiotic meaning of her first name, Rosa, which in Spanish means both "rose" and "pink." The photographs from this period are self-portraits. Navarro exhibited in Columbia in the 1980s and 90s and won several awards including winning second place at the first Salón Colombo-americano in 1982. The Tepic Territory () was a Territories of Mexico, federal territory of Mexico that existed between 1884 and 1917, when it was granted List of states of Mexico, statehood within the United Mexican States as Nayarit.
